Iya's First Snow of the 2020/21 Winter Season !

First Snow 初雪!Winter is now fully here and the Iya Valley is having its first snow of the season. There is about 7 or 8cm on the ground now (at the elevation of 650m in the middle of Oku-Iya), and its still slowly falling.

The temperature has been between -5C and 0C all day, so if you are driving, please be careful of ice, especially on bridges.

From January 9, 2024 until February 15 the Iya-no-Kazurabashi in Nishi-Iya will be closed in order to replace the vines.

As of April 22, 2023 the main road into Oku-Iya (Higashi-Iya) has been patched up and is now passable again, and local bus service is now back to normal.

On April 6th bus service will begin again to and from Oku-Iya, but the necessary road detour will create delays for the entire bus route.
